Cheer on Students as They Compete to Win Grants for Service Projects

Empowering young people to identify community issues, become problem solvers and take action to make a difference – that is the focus of the Points of Light Youth Summit at this year's Conference.

Fifty students (ages 11-18) from the Seattle/King County area will split into teams of five and participate in an interactive leadership experience, led by generationOn, the youth division of Points of Light. The students will research a community issue and develop a project plan to support a local nonprofit or school. Their experience will close with the opportunity to pitch their volunteer service project ideas to a panel of judges. Each team will have a chance to win up to $1,000 in grants for their sponsoring organization to implement the service project.

With the generous support of Target, grants will be awarded based on points received in the areas of relevance, creativity, community engagement, planned scope of work, defined outcome and sustainability.

Be a part of the audience supporting these young people during this exciting pitch competition! Register for Conference and add the Points of Light Youth Summit session #274 to your Conference schedule.

What Others Are Saying

The emphasis on cross-sector collaboration was eye-opening, and everyone I met walked away with fresh perspectives and ideas. It broke down the silos of inward-facing sectors and showed us how much more powerful our work can be when we come together. An unbeatable experience!

The conference proved to be one of the most engaging and exciting professional gatherings of like-minded people I've ever attended. Although the topics, content, and presentations all appropriately centered around volunteering and service in some way, the sheer range of them was simply astounding.
