Mike Philips is an assistant general counsel in Microsoft’s corporate external legal affairs’ artificial intelligence and research group, responsible for supporting Microsoft’s AI products organization and the Microsoft Research AI team. Mike joined Microsoft in October 1999 and has supported a variety of product groups, including Bing, Office Server, Unified Communications, Xbox and MSN Mobile, as well as a number of field organizations, including during a 2-year stint as the lead for Microsoft’s corporate external legal affairs’ artificial intelligence and research group SE Asia legal team based in Singapore.

Prior to Microsoft, Mike practiced law for five years at Preston Gates & Ellis (now K&L Gates) in Seattle, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions. Mike received his JD from the University of Washington and a bachelor’s in international affairs from the University of Colorado.
